About this role

CGL Electronic Security is seeking an experienced Install Technician to join their Westwood, MA office and service the Boston, Western Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire regions. This role centers on the full lifecycle of security system installation and maintenance—configuring and programming access control systems (Software House, Genetec, S2, Openpath, DSC, Honeywell), installing and servicing video surveillance solutions, and handling hardware deployments including readers, locks, and network infrastructure. You'll diagnose problems, perform repairs, manage on-call rotations (roughly every 8 weeks), complete service documentation, and represent CGL as the primary point of contact for customers.

The position requires a D-licensed Security Technician with at least three years of hands-on experience installing or programming access control systems and mandatory prior experience with Software House. You'll need a valid driver's license, comfort working at heights and with hand and power tools, and the ability to troubleshoot independently under pressure. Strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and the capacity to lead and train junior technicians round out the core requirements. Travel is primarily local, with rare overnight trips.

CGL describes itself as a family-run business with corporate structure, founded in 1998 and still led by two of its three original owners. The company emphasizes long-term employment—average tenure exceeds 10 years—and invests in industry training and certifications for its team. This role would suit someone seeking stability, mentorship from experienced professionals, and the opportunity to grow within an established, growing security firm.
