Clear Ridge Defense is seeking a TS/SCI cleared professional to serve as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO), in Washington, DC
Roles and Responsibilities
You will...
- Provide support to senior ISSOs for implementing and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies
- Assist in the evaluation of security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information
- Assist with the CM for information system security software, hardware, and firmware
- Maintain records on workstations, servers, routers, firewalls, intelligent hubs, network switches, etc to include system upgrades
- Evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information
- Propose, coordinate, implement, and enforce information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies
- Maintain operational security posture for an information system or program
- Develop and update the system security plan and other IA documentation
- Provide CM for security-relevant information system software, hardware, and firmware
- Assist with the management of security aspects of the of the information system and perform day-to-day security operations of the system
- Develop system security policy and ensure compliance
Must Haves
You possess...
- Experience as an ISSO on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Experience in at least two (2) of the following areas: knowledge of current security tools, hardware/software security implementation; communication protocols; and encryption techniques/tools
- TS/SCI clearance
- Experience with SSPs
- Experience with customer's current tools
- Assist in the evaluation of security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information
- Advanced hands-on technical skills
Nice To Haves
- IAT certifications (Sec+, CEH, CySA+, etc.)
- Leadership experience
- Associates degree or higher in a related field

$90,000 - $200,000/ year
Salary ranges provided are subject to the following variables and circumstances, which may impact whether the actual paid salary falls within the range:
- The contract the employee is assigned to support. For example, this advertised position may support multiple contracts.
- The negotiated rates between CRD and our client.
- The option year of the contract the employee is assigned to.
- Annual performance of the employee and/or the company.
- If the employee takes on additional company responsibilities.
- If the company makes a strategic hiring decision (e.g., investment in the employee) for growth opportunities.
- If the employee does not meet the qualifications fully but a waiver is provided by CRD or our clients.

About this role
Clear Ridge Defense is hiring an Information System Security Officer to work on-site in Washington, DC supporting classified defense and intelligence operations. You'll operate at the intersection of policy and hands-on technical work, handling everything from day-to-day security operations and configuration management to developing system security plans and enforcing compliance across classified networks. The role sits on a spectrum from junior to senior, meaning your advancement depends on prior ISSO experience and the depth of your technical foundation.
To be competitive, you need an active TS/SCI clearance and proven experience as an ISSO on similar programs. You'll also need demonstrated expertise in at least two areas: security tools, hardware and software implementation, communication protocols, or encryption techniques. Experience with System Security Plans and your client's specific tools is expected. The work is technical and operational—maintaining records on infrastructure, evaluating security solutions, coordinating policy implementation, and managing the day-to-day security posture of systems handling classified information.
This is a contract position with a salary range of $90,000 to $200,000 annually, depending on your experience level, the specific contract assignment, and performance.
