Key Responsibilities
Build AI-powered software on Confluence's flagship platform
This is not a maintenance role.
As part of our Software Engineering team, you'll work across a large-scale product ecosystem used by investment management firms around the world. You'll help develop modern services, improve platform capabilities and build AI-powered solutions using technologies such as LLMs and agent-based workflows.

What you'll be doing
- Developing applications and services using .NET and C#
- Designing and building RESTful APIs
- Contributing to scalable, modern software architecture
- Collaborating with engineers, product managers, QA and other stakeholders
- Exploring and implementing AI-powered development and product capabilities
- Improving development practices, tooling and engineering quality
- Contributing to modern DevOps and CI/CD approaches
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Professional experience developing software with .NET and C#
- Experience building RESTful APIs and service-oriented applications
- Understanding of software design patterns and scalable architecture
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments
- Working knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks such as React
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Curiosity about AI and an interest in applying it to software engineering challenges
- Approximately 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Nice to have
- Azure or other cloud platform experience
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines
- Python for automation or AI-related workflows
- Experience working with LLMs, prompt engineering or agentic systems
- Containerisation technologies
- Experience building developer productivity tools

About this role
Confluence is modernizing a flagship investment data platform and seeking a .NET engineer to help integrate AI capabilities into production software. You'd work across a large-scale product ecosystem serving investment management firms globally, developing services in .NET and C#, designing RESTful APIs, and exploring how LLMs and agent-based workflows can deliver real value to users. This isn't a maintenance role—you'll contribute across multiple areas of the product, gaining exposure to different technologies and teams while collaborating with experienced engineers in a knowledge-sharing culture.
The role requires at least two years of professional software engineering experience with .NET and C#, a solid understanding of software design patterns and scalable architecture, and familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks like React and DevOps practices. You should be comfortable working in Agile environments and have strong communication skills. Beyond the essentials, experience with Azure, CI/CD pipelines, Python, LLMs, or containerization would strengthen your candidacy. This is a hybrid position in Pittsburgh for US Citizens or Green Card Holders only, and Confluence offers flexible working arrangements alongside competitive benefits including generous time off and career development opportunities.
