About this role

Wurl operates in the video and ad delivery space, where massive datasets require careful analysis and normalization to drive business decisions. This year-long internship offers the chance to work directly with the Data Science and Machine Learning team on real problems: identifying data anomalies and their root causes, developing methods to clean and standardize datasets, and improving the accuracy of data products that feed into production systems.

The role demands strong fundamentals in Python, SQL, statistics, and machine learning, along with hands-on experience in anomaly detection, large-scale data analysis, and distributed platforms like Snowflake or Databricks. You'll need to think critically about data quality, design experiments rigorously, and write clean, maintainable code. A PhD or MSc in Data Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science is preferred; a strong BSc with high GPA and notable projects can also qualify.

This internship suits someone intellectually curious and independent who enjoys debugging messy data, challenging assumptions, and pushing past surface-level results. You'll have mentorship from experienced engineers, work fully remote with flexible scheduling, and earn $30/hour. The role is backed by AppLovin, a public company, which means stability alongside the dynamic environment of a 150+ person startup.
