About this role

Coinbase's Privacy Legal team is seeking an experienced privacy counsel to lead the development and scaling of its global privacy program across a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. You'd report to the Managing General Counsel and serve as a senior advisor on data protection and privacy strategy, working at the intersection of product development, regulatory compliance, and data governance. This role requires translating complex international privacy requirements—including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, and others—into actionable guidance for product teams, while also representing the company with regulators and government agencies, particularly across EMEA.

The position demands someone with at least eight years of legal practice and five years of substantive privacy experience, ideally gained in-house at technology or financial services firms. You'll own privacy policy drafting, data protection agreements, vendor negotiations, and incident response; partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to embed privacy-by-design into development cycles; and manage regulatory inquiries and data subject rights processes. The role is based in Ireland and remote-capable, though Coinbase expects quarterly in-person "surge" sessions.

This is a high-accountability role at a company that operates with intensity and refuses compromise. You'll need UK, Irish, or EU legal qualification, deep expertise in global data protection frameworks, and a demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives. The base salary is €195,700 annually, with equity and bonus eligibility.
