About this role
IronMountain Solutions is seeking a Launcher Technical Lead to manage engineering and integration for two Army weapons systems: the Modular Effects Launcher (MEL) and the Launched Effects Dispenser for Ground and Rotorcraft (LEDGR). Based at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, this is a full-time contract role requiring in-office presence and up to 25% travel. You would lead multidisciplinary teams through the complete lifecycle of these systems—from development and integration through qualification, production, fielding, and sustainment—working across Army Aviation platforms including Apache helicopters and ground-based systems.
The role demands deep expertise in weapons integration, airworthiness processes, and Army Aviation systems. You'll author interface control documents, manage contract requirements, participate in formal technical reviews (SRR through SVR), and support both airborne and ground qualification activities. You'll coordinate across multiple government directorates and contractor organizations, serve as the technical authority on MEL and LEDGR, and brief senior Army leadership quarterly on program status. This requires hands-on knowledge of specific weapons systems like Hellfire, JAGM, and 2.75 SMART Rockets, plus familiarity with relevant military standards and avionics architecture.
You should have at least ten years of program execution experience from concept through platform integration, ideally with a bachelor's degree in engineering. Critical qualifications include proven experience with Apache or other Army rotary-wing platforms, launcher system design and integration, flight test and weapons separation analysis, and mastery of the military airworthiness process. You'll need to obtain or maintain a Secret security clearance and demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing competing priorities across a complex stakeholder environment.
