About this role

Latitude AI, a Ford subsidiary building autonomous driving technology in Pittsburgh, is hiring a Mission Operator for overnight shift test driving. This contract role involves driving development vehicles on local missions (up to 300–400 miles) and extended cross-country trips with up to 50% travel time. You'll perform vehicle startup and shutdown procedures, monitor software and hardware systems in real time, troubleshoot issues on the road, document performance data, and work closely with engineers to provide feedback that shapes the platform's development before its 2027 debut on the Ford Fathom.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED plus two years of work experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass drug screening and background checks including Motor Vehicle Record verification. You'll need strong technical fundamentals—computer proficiency, basic troubleshooting, and the ability to work autonomously or with minimal oversight—along with genuine interest in learning new technology and the reliability to maintain focus during long driving shifts in close quarters with colleagues. Prior experience in technical driving, fleet operations, or vehicle testing is valued but not required.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone comfortable with overnight schedules, extended road time, and the responsibility of operating test vehicles in public environments while adhering to strict safety protocols. It's an opportunity to contribute directly to autonomous vehicle development at a company operating with startup speed inside a major automaker.
