About this role

SimpliSafe is hiring an Electrical Engineer I to join their Boston-based product development team in a hybrid role. You'll work under the mentorship of senior engineers on the design, testing, and documentation of security-focused hardware products. Your day-to-day will involve supporting prototype development and testing, collaborating across mechanical, firmware, and industrial design teams, participating in design reviews with suppliers, and helping troubleshoot issues as products move from concept through manufacturing. You'll also build foundational knowledge of emerging sensors, low-power electronics, and manufacturing processes relevant to home security devices.

This role is designed for someone early in their electrical engineering career—you'll need a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field plus at least one year of relevant experience (internships count). Experience with battery-operated electronics, embedded systems interfaces like UART or SPI, or RF technologies is valued but not required. The position emphasizes learning from experienced engineers and developing into a systems engineering role, so curiosity and strong communication skills matter as much as technical depth. You should be comfortable with occasional travel to manufacturing partners in China, one to three times annually.

The salary range is $70,700 to $94,300 annually, with additional compensation through bonuses, equity, and a full benefits package. SimpliSafe offers a hybrid work model with two core in-office days per week, a free SimpliSafe system for your home, and a collaborative, no-ego culture focused on growth and cross-functional teamwork.
