Description

Power the future of Space at Star Catcher

Star Catcher is powering the future of space by building the world’s first orbital energy grid: the Star Catcher Network. Spacecraft connect into the Star Catcher Network and receive conditioned energy via their existing solar arrays, requiring no retrofit to utilize the first true space-based infrastructure. The Star Catcher Network provides power as needed from tens of Watts to tens of thousands of Watts at concentrations from fractions of a Sun of flux to ten Suns of flux.

Star Catcher Industries, Inc., located in Jacksonville, FL, has opportunities for our Summer 2027 Engineering Internship Program to support the development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network, its orbital power grid. This role will support our engineering team in a wide range of exciting projects related to space technologies and space systems. You will work closely with our engineering team, contributing to the development, testing, and optimization of various space-related components and systems. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for you to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting, collaborate on interdisciplinary teams, and gain valuable experience in the space industry.

  • Proficiency in engineering software tools (e.g., MATLAB, SolidWorks, Python, CAD, etc.).

What You’ll Gain:

  • A hands-on internship experience with direct exposure to high-level industry professionals.
  • Experience working on projects that build new technology from the ground up.
  • Opportunities to contribute to real-world space projects.
  • A front-row seat to change the way we do space!

About this role

Star Catcher is developing an orbital power grid that beams energy to spacecraft in space, and this summer internship puts you directly into that mission. You'll support the engineering team in Jacksonville on projects spanning spacecraft design, power beaming systems, and the infrastructure that makes this network function. The work spans mechanical, electrical, optical, and software challenges, so you'll likely touch multiple disciplines depending on where the team needs you most.

To be eligible, you must be currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, and you must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for State Department authorization). Prior internship experience and familiarity with spacecraft systems are valued, as are skills in tools like MATLAB, SolidWorks, Python, and CAD. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with strong problem-solving and communication abilities.

This role offers direct exposure to industry professionals and the chance to contribute to real hardware and systems being built from the ground up. If you're genuinely interested in space technology and want hands-on experience at a company solving a novel infrastructure problem, this internship provides a meaningful entry point into the industry.
