Description
SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars.
SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Process Technician is responsible for building, installing, operating, and troubleshooting fluid and process systems at SpaceXSI's power generation facility. This role focuses on plant fluid systems including fuel gas, ammonia, water, compressed and instrument air, and HVAC. Technicians play a key role in the design and commissioning process by providing feedback to engineers on how systems will be operated and maintained.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support fuel gas, ammonia, water/cooling water, compressed and instrument air, HVAC, and related balance-of-plant process systems
- Read and interpret planning documents, P&IDs, schematics, data sheets/manuals, drawings, blueprints, and engineering sketches
- Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components of process, utility, and plant fluid equipment
- Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors
- Complete necessary wiring of electrical support equipment for process and utility systems
- Perform high-pressure liquid and pneumatic testing
- Troubleshoot and repair high-urgency operational issues found during commissioning, start-up, outages, or normal plant operation of fluid systems
- Follow lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space, and other site safety procedures while working on live and isolated process systems
- Work with fluids, mechanical, and controls engineers to walk down systems, redline drawings, and improve operability and maintainability
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience using mechanical and/or electronics hand tools
- 3+ years of experience with pipe fitting and fabrication
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex fluid and mechanical systems in a power plant, process plant, or similar industrial facility
- Experience with fuel gas, ammonia, water treatment or cooling water, compressed/instrument air, HVAC, or hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Experience with orbital or structural welding
- Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic system fabrication
- Professional experience with calibrated measuring instruments
- Experience using heavy equipment, including but not limited to overhead cranes, forklifts, and manlifts
- Ability to read P&IDs and support system commissioning and outage work
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs (unassisted)
- Must be willing to travel up to 25%. Position is based at a SpaceXSI power generation facility; work at other SpaceXSI sites for extended periods for similar work may be required
- Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces

About this role
This role involves hands-on technical work building, installing, and troubleshooting fluid and process systems at a power generation facility. You'll work directly with fuel gas, ammonia, water, compressed air, HVAC, and related systems—reading technical drawings, connecting sensors, performing high-pressure testing, and diagnosing operational issues during commissioning and normal plant operation. The position requires close collaboration with engineers to improve system design and maintainability, meaning your field experience will directly inform engineering decisions.
You'll need at least three years working with hand tools and pipe fitting and fabrication. Experience maintaining complex industrial fluid systems is strongly preferred, particularly in power plants or similar facilities. Additional valuable skills include welding, pneumatic/hydraulic fabrication, familiarity with P&IDs, and proficiency with measuring instruments and heavy equipment. The role demands strict adherence to safety protocols including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures.
This is a full-time, in-office position in Southaven, Mississippi, with up to 25% travel to other SpaceX sites and flexibility for overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts based on operational needs. You should be comfortable working in varied conditions, lifting at least 25 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces while wearing PPE. SpaceXAI operates with a flat structure where all employees contribute directly to the mission and leadership comes from consistent delivery and initiative.
