About this role
Upstream Rehabilitation's Journey program pairs travel assignments with the stability of a single employer—a structure designed for PTs who want geographic flexibility without the typical gaps in benefits or continuity that come with traditional travel agencies. You'd work across Upstream's network of over 1,200 outpatient clinics spanning 28 states, with assignments typically lasting 13 weeks, though 6- or 12-month options exist if you want to stay longer or transition to a permanent location.
The role centers on standard outpatient orthopedic physical therapy: developing evidence-based treatment plans, delivering outcomes-driven care, and collaborating with clinical teams at whichever Upstream-affiliated clinic you're assigned to. What distinguishes this position is the operational consistency—you'll use the same EMR and documentation systems across all locations, eliminating the learning curve that often comes with each new assignment.
Compensation ranges from $120k to $145k, plus a non-taxed housing stipend, travel reimbursement, bonuses tied to assignment length and productivity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and paid time off that continues between assignments. You'll need a graduate degree in physical therapy and an active or pending state license. This setup appeals to clinicians seeking adventure without sacrificing employment security or career continuity.
