About this role
Perry Ellis International is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to own the design and management of their global Proxmox virtualized infrastructure. Based in Miami and working on-site, you'd be the primary architect responsible for Proxmox VE and PBS deployments, working closely with Storage and Networking teams to ensure high availability, security, and performance across the organization's server environments. The role demands someone with at least three years of hands-on Proxmox experience in an enterprise setting (or equivalent hypervisor background like VMware or KVM), combined with solid Linux/Debian knowledge and a firm grasp of SAN integration, network redundancy, and high availability principles.
Beyond infrastructure management, this position involves significant cross-functional collaboration and mentorship. You'll handle capacity planning and optimization, oversee hardware lifecycle management, provision and configure VMs across multiple operating systems, and develop disaster recovery strategies. The role also requires you to translate technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders and guide junior administrators. Optional skills like Bash/Python scripting, Kubernetes, Podman, Ceph storage, and Dell hardware expertise would strengthen your candidacy.
The position includes standard benefits—medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, PTO, and tuition reimbursement—plus apparel discounts. Be aware that occasional after-hours and weekend work is expected during maintenance windows and emergencies, and the role involves occasional server room work requiring hearing protection.
