About this role
Beam Therapeutics is seeking a Director, Patient Services to build and lead the patient support infrastructure for risto-cel, its lead gene therapy candidate for sickle cell disease. This role sits within the Market Access team and requires someone who can design comprehensive patient services programs—including financial assistance, travel support, and treatment center engagement—while navigating the complex regulatory and compliance landscape of gene therapy, particularly Anti-Kickback Statute requirements and OIG opinion work.
The ideal candidate brings 15+ years in pharma or biotech, with at least 8 years specifically in patient services spanning both field and strategy work. You'll need demonstrated expertise in buy-and-bill models, rare disease programs, and ideally cell or gene therapy experience. Billing and coding knowledge, CRM proficiency, and comfort with approximately 25% travel are essential.
