About this role
Connections Health Solutions is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to manage the critical front-end work that gets people into crisis behavioral health care. You'll verify insurance eligibility and benefits before patients receive services, update their records in the EHR, and handle the often-complex task of determining Medicaid or Federal Marketplace coverage for uninsured patients. This means working directly with health plans, resolving denied claims, tracking applications through completion, and ensuring demographic data stays accurate throughout a patient's stay. The role requires attention to detail and persistence—you'll be reconciling daily visits, correcting enrollment errors, and coordinating with clinical and billing teams to keep claims moving smoothly.
You'll need a high school diploma, patient registration experience in a hospital or multi-specialty setting, and at least two years working with medical billing and eligibility. Solid knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance products is essential. A bachelor's degree in healthcare, five years of facility billing experience, Spanish fluency, and certifications like CPR would strengthen your candidacy. The position is full-time, in-office in Phoenix, and requires full vaccination as a condition of employment.
The benefits package is substantial for full-time staff: comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage; employer-funded HSA contributions; 401k matching after six months; and 160 hours of PTO annually plus 12 company holidays. Parental leave and an Employee Assistance Program are also available. Connections Health Solutions identifies as a Second Chance Employer committed to equal opportunity hiring.
