About this role

Cambridge Mobile Telematics is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to design and operate production ML systems that directly power road safety technology. You'll work with sequential and multi-modal sensor data to build models for risk assessment, crash detection, and driver engagement—work that has already helped prevent over 126,000 crashes globally. The role requires close collaboration across research, product, and platform teams to move models from development into reliable, scaled products running on both cloud and edge infrastructure.

This position demands substantial depth: at least seven years in AI/ML with three or more years specifically deploying deep learning models, particularly in generative AI for sequential or spatio-temporal data. You'll need strong Python fundamentals, at least two years of hands-on AWS experience, proficiency in SQL, and the software engineering rigor to build systems that operate reliably at scale. Experience with time-series architectures, self-supervised learning on real sensor data, or large-scale data orchestration tools like Spark, Airflow, and Kubernetes would be valuable additions.

The role is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and requires in-office work. Compensation ranges from $177,000 to $221,300 annually, with performance bonuses, equity in the form of RSUs, comprehensive health benefits, 401k matching, and unlimited paid time off. The company offers flexible scheduling and emphasizes high ownership within small teams with direct access to leadership.
