Description

Company Overview:

Beam Therapeutics is a biotechnology company committed to establishing the leading, fully integrated platform for precision genetic medicines. To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform with integrated gene editing, delivery and internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.

About this role

Beam Therapeutics is seeking a Director of FP&A to lead commercial financial planning and analysis for a precision genetic medicine platform. Reporting to the VP of FP&A, you would serve as the primary financial business partner to the Commercial organization and the risto-cel program, owning planning cycles, monthly budget variance analysis, and forecast updates while working cross-functionally with Accounting and Manufacturing. The role demands strong financial modeling capabilities—building integrated models from scratch in Excel and planning tools to support long-range planning, valuation, and strategic decisions—alongside the ability to pressure-test commercial revenue and patient forecasts across current and pipeline programs.

This position suits someone with at least eight years of FP&A experience, ideally with two or more years in a commercial context and a background in biotech. You'll need advanced proficiency in Excel, Adaptive Insights, and ERP systems (NetSuite or SAP preferred), solid grounding in US GAAP and financial statements, and comfort adopting AI tools into your workflow. Success here requires balancing multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and meeting tight deadlines. The role is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with an expectation to work onsite one to three days per week, and offers a base salary of $210,000 to $260,000.
