About this role
Perry Ellis International's customs entry writer role centers on managing U.S. Customs filings and import logistics for a major apparel portfolio spanning over 40 brands. You'll spend most of your time preparing and processing entries through ACE, reviewing import documentation, verifying HTS classifications and duty rates, and tracking shipment status through customs clearance. The position carries specific responsibility for all air shipments across U.S. ports, shipments from China subject to elevated tariffs, and special-provision country imports requiring preferential trade agreements like NAFTA and QIZ.
This is fundamentally a detail-oriented operations role that demands accuracy under time pressure. You'll coordinate across vendors, brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to resolve missing documentation, process entry corrections, and keep multiple shipments moving simultaneously. The work requires proficiency in Excel, familiarity with Oracle, and solid knowledge of CBP requirements and tariff classification—though prior apparel or textile import experience is preferred rather than required.
Based in Miami and full-time in-office, the role suits someone who thrives on procedural compliance, enjoys problem-solving across departments, and can manage competing priorities without losing precision. Perry Ellis offers standard benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and associate discounts on apparel.
