About this role

Bluestone seeks a physician leader to shape clinical strategy and performance across its national primary care operations. In this National Medical Director role, you'd oversee a team of primary care physicians and medical directors, serve as Medical Director for the Bluestone ACO, and partner with executive leadership to drive utilization outcomes, manage total cost of care, and advance the organization's evidence-based care model. The position blends clinical expertise with operational responsibility—you'd be accountable for aligning physicians around shared savings goals, identifying process improvements, and maintaining relationships with payers, vendors, and care operators across multiple markets.

This is an executive-level opportunity suited to an MD or DO with substantial leadership experience in primary care and a track record managing complex clinical operations. You'll need strong communication skills, the ability to work independently across competing priorities, and comfort with data-driven decision-making. The role is based in Tampa but involves quarterly travel to other markets and a mix of field, office, and remote work. Bluestone's model—which has delivered measurable outcomes like 36% fewer hospitalizations for its patient population—offers the chance to lead at scale within an organization recognized as a top workplace for 14 consecutive years.
