About this role

Clēnera is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to oversee environmental programs, permitting, and risk management across a rapidly expanding portfolio of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. Based remotely from Boise, you'll work across the full project lifecycle—from pre-construction through operations—coordinating environmental strategy, managing consultant teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance across 23 states. This role bridges development, construction, and operations, requiring you to advise leadership on permitting pathways, environmental risks, and constructability while maintaining relationships with federal, state, and local agencies.

The position demands eight years of renewable energy environmental permitting or consulting experience, with deep knowledge of NEPA, USACE, SWPPP, and other regulatory frameworks. You'll develop environmental budgets, direct due diligence efforts, resolve complex compliance issues that could affect project timelines and costs, and translate environmental requirements into construction-ready plans. Strong communication skills are essential—you'll present environmental recommendations to executives, guide internal teams and external consultants, and advise construction and operations leadership on regulatory opportunities and risks.

This role suits someone who thrives managing competing priorities across multiple projects, has a track record of turning environmental requirements into practical solutions, and wants to contribute meaningfully to renewable energy development at scale. Clēnera values collaborative, detail-oriented professionals who can work independently while driving organizational excellence.
