About this role
Working as a New Construction Technician at CPI Security means being the first installer customers meet when their home security system goes in—making you responsible for both the technical work and the relationship that follows. You'll handle the full installation process, from initial walkthrough and system design through activation and customer training, while identifying opportunities to expand what the customer buys. The role demands attention to detail in both the technical setup and the paperwork, plus genuine customer service skills to keep people informed and satisfied throughout.
The position suits someone with a technical foundation—whether from trade school training in electrical, HVAC, or low voltage work, or hands-on experience in cable or telecom installation—combined with real sales ability. You need mechanical aptitude, strong troubleshooting instincts, and the interpersonal skills to consult with customers about their needs and close upsells. Safety awareness and professional presentation matter throughout.
CPI structures compensation around performance: hourly pay during training, then uncapped commission, giving you control over your earnings as you build skills and customer relationships. The company provides equipment, fuel, paid training, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and PTO. You'll have every other weekend off and access to education assistance for career growth. Note that this is listed as a volunteer position, so clarify the employment terms before applying.
