About this role

BAYADA's school-based Behavioral Technician role offers a structured pathway into ABA work with students on Oahu. You'll start as a trainee and complete the RBT Academy—a combination of web-based coursework, hands-on training, and exam prep—to earn your Registered Behavior Technician certification within weeks. The position is based in classrooms across local school districts, where you'll implement behavior therapy techniques, collect data, and work alongside teachers to help students with autism and developmental disabilities build functional skills and independence.

The role suits recent graduates, career changers, or anyone with relevant paraprofessional experience who meets the education requirement (an associate's degree, 48 college credits, or a high school diploma plus ParaPro certification). No prior experience in behavioral health is necessary. You'll work Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with pay starting at $30 per hour and the option to be placed near your home when possible.

BAYADA backs this role with genuine support: paid training to certification, health and dental coverage, tuition assistance, 401(k) matching, and an employee assistance program. The organization has earned recognition as a top employer in Hawaii and healthcare, and positions itself as a non-profit committed to staff development and a collaborative workplace culture.
