About this role

MIO Partners seeks an Associate Portfolio Manager to apprentice with senior leadership while managing a portfolio of external long/short equity hedge fund investments. You would own the full lifecycle of manager relationships—from sourcing and due diligence through ongoing monitoring and performance assessment—while working within MIO's established investment frameworks. The role combines hands-on portfolio stewardship with analytical depth: you'll conduct in-depth manager research, negotiate fund terms, and maintain detailed documentation, all in service of identifying alpha opportunities and managing risk across a diversified set of external managers.

Beyond day-to-day portfolio management, you'll contribute to building and refining MIO's analytical capabilities. This includes designing and executing quantitative research projects, developing conceptual frameworks for assessing equity long/short strategies, and translating those frameworks into operational tools and reports. You'll project-manage framework development across stakeholders, own implementation into MIO's systems, and oversee ongoing accuracy and insights generation. The role expects you to be intellectually curious, comfortable with ambiguity, and capable of balancing competing priorities while maintaining rigor.

This position suits someone with five to eight years of investment management experience who combines strong analytical and Excel skills with distinctive problem-solving ability. You should have a track record of academic excellence, broad intellectual interests, and genuine commitment to working in a values-driven environment. Familiarity with Bloomberg, Python, and PowerPoint is valued. The role is full-time, in-office in New York, with a salary of $250,000.
