About this role

FreedomCare's Manager of Authorizations role leads a team of nine through the authorization processes that keep home care services running smoothly. You'll own day-to-day operations, escalate complex payer issues, and serve as the primary point of contact when authorization delays or barriers threaten service delivery. The position reports to Finance but works across Operations, Compliance, and Technology to resolve recurring workflow problems and align priorities across the organization.

Beyond team management, you'll drive process maturity by identifying operational gaps, designing scalable workflows, and championing automation and efficiency improvements. This means analyzing performance data to spot trends, defining new processes, supporting system implementations, and ensuring your team understands how their work connects to broader department outcomes. You'll also handle the full cycle of people leadership—hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and accountability—while building a culture where team members take ownership of their work.

The ideal candidate brings at least three years of managerial experience leading an operational or finance-driven team, strong Excel and data analysis skills, and a track record of coordinating process improvement initiatives. Experience in healthcare authorizations, revenue cycle, or payer operations is a plus, as is familiarity with tools like SQL, Power BI, or Power Automate. This is a remote role based in New York City with occasional travel to the New Hyde Park office, offering a salary range of $70,000–$80,000.
