About this role
Mission Healthcare's traveling physical therapist lead role offers a unique blend of clinical practice and leadership across multiple home health locations in Northern California. You'll work 13-week assignments at different service areas, providing direct patient care while serving as a clinical resource and mentor to rehabilitation staff. The position emphasizes both hands-on therapy—evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions—and broader organizational impact through quality improvement initiatives, best practices promotion, and support for operational excellence.
The role suits experienced physical therapists with at least one year of practice, ideally in home health settings, who are comfortable with mobility and independent work. You'll need an active PT license (or ability to obtain one in assigned states), a master's or doctorate in physical therapy, current BLS/CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. Beyond clinical credentials, the company values leadership, communication, and adaptability—the ability to quickly integrate into new teams and patient populations while maintaining clinical standards.
Mission Healthcare provides substantial support for the traveling lifestyle: company-paid housing during each assignment, transportation or a stipend, and paid travel to and from locations. The full-time W-2 position starts at $125,000 annually and includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and relocation assistance for those working 30+ hours weekly.
