About this role
Verra Mobility is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to design, implement, and operate cloud and on-premises infrastructure across their organization. Based in Indianapolis (with flexibility for Mesa, Phoenix, or Chicago), you'd work hybrid and collaborate closely with Architecture, Engineering, and IT Operations teams to deploy and support solutions primarily in Microsoft Azure, alongside private cloud and hybrid environments. The role spans the full infrastructure lifecycle: implementing hyperconverged platforms like Cisco UCS and VxRail, building high-availability and disaster recovery frameworks, automating deployments via PowerShell and scripting, and managing security and compliance across multi-tenant, regulated environments.
This position demands deep technical expertise across multiple domains. You'll need 6+ years in datacenter and cloud environments with strong hands-on knowledge of VMware (vSphere, NSX, VxRail), Windows Server and Linux, Azure services, and infrastructure automation. Additional experience with backup solutions (Rublik), patch management (Tanium), and migration tools (Zerto) is expected. You should be comfortable with architecture design, cost optimization through resource tagging, and incident leadership. The role includes on-call responsibilities and participation in a global follow-the-sun support model.
This is best suited for someone self-directed and collaborative who thrives solving complex infrastructure problems and can work effectively across multiple technology disciplines and compliance frameworks (SOX, SOC2, ISO, PCI). A relevant degree or certification in computer science or datacenter/cloud specialization is required.
