About this role

Working on digital platforms that serve financial professionals and retirees, you'd contribute to modernizing American Equity's web and mobile portals during a structured 10–12 week internship in downtown Des Moines. You'll write front-end code in React and Tailwind CSS, assist with back-end services using .NET, and help translate business requirements into technical solutions. The work spans the full development lifecycle—design, coding, testing, and debugging—alongside collaboration with stakeholders and cross-functional teams using standard tools like Jira, GitHub, and Microsoft Teams.

This role suits someone with foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript who has worked with React and has some familiarity with .NET and API design. AWS cloud experience and a web development certification are valued but not required. You'll need solid communication and time management skills to work effectively across time zones and present your work to colleagues.

Beyond the day-to-day project work, the Launchpad program includes dedicated mentorship, professional development sessions, a company-wide hack-a-thon, networking events, and community service opportunities. You'll receive competitive compensation with a housing stipend, making this a full immersion into the company's culture and technology environment.
