Description

Overview

At Porter, we blend our expertise in interior design and hospitality to create spaces and experiences that add joy and purpose to everyday life. We offer design and procurement services to businesses, and also design and operate a growing list of our own hospitality businesses. At the heart of our business is our flagship location in downtown Seattle, The Shop: an all-day café where we host events, offer space for meetings and private gatherings, and sell a curated selection of sundries, gifts and home goods. The Shop is where we connect with our community and actively refine what it looks like to take care of our guests, from the design of inspiring, inclusive spaces to the experiences we create within them.

We take great pride in our work, not only because of the output, but because of the way we do it: with radical hospitality. At its core, radical hospitality means approaching our work through the lens of how we make people feel, including our guests, our team, and ourselves. It's what we want to be remembered for, and operates as a guidepost for everything we do.

About this role

Porter operates The Shop, a downtown Seattle all-day café that doubles as a retail and co-working hub, and this line cook role sits at the center of that operation. You'd be responsible for both prep work—washing, chopping, and measuring ingredients—and service-line execution, cooking and plating dishes across breakfast, lunch, catering, and grab-and-go offerings. The position demands someone comfortable in a fast-paced open kitchen who can maintain consistency and quality while collaborating closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff during busy periods.

The role calls for 1–2 years of prior food prep or line cook experience, with solid fundamentals in techniques like sautéing, grilling, and baking. You'll need to manage varied hours including mornings, afternoons, weekends, and holidays, and occasionally work events (which come with a higher hourly rate). Coffee or bar experience is a bonus. Beyond the technical skills, Porter emphasizes what they call "radical hospitality"—approaching work through how you make people feel—so they're looking for someone genuinely invested in guest experience and team collaboration.

The full-time position includes 15 days PTO, 9 paid holidays, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k with employer match, paid parental leave, and a wellness stipend up to $500 annually, plus profit sharing. The salary is $25 per hour.
