About this role
Leading product delivery for a subsystem within Phoenix, this Senior Product Owner role at ICON requires someone who can own the full lifecycle of engineering deliverables—from stakeholder coordination and risk management to task prioritization and cross-functional communication. You'll report to the Product Manager and serve as the accountable party for on-budget, on-time delivery while managing a team's work against the Master Schedule. The position demands both technical depth and collaborative leadership, with regular escalation of budget, schedule, and priority issues, plus the ability to synthesize feedback from customers, end-users, and functional leads into product decisions.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in engineering development (or 10+ with an associate degree) with proven experience in industrial equipment, robotics, or complex automation systems. You'll need hands-on familiarity with manufacturing partnerships, machinery certification standards like OSHA and CE marking, Jira, and Agile methodology. Product management or technical leadership experience is preferred. Beyond the desk, this role includes field work in challenging conditions—extreme temperatures, mud, and travel 4+ weeks annually—plus the physical capability to lift 50 pounds.
This is a contract position based at ICON's Austin campus, requiring in-office presence. It suits someone with a strong engineering foundation who thrives coordinating across teams, managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment, and can move fluidly between strategic product thinking and operational execution.
