What you’ll do
HVAC/R & Facilities Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC/R systems
(WIC/R, RTUs, exhaust fans, hoods, make-up air units, DOAS systems) - Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues across multiple sites
- Support refrigeration and kitchen ventilation systems
Facility Operations Support
- Travel between multiple sites (number of sites vary by region) throughout the week across the Greater Los Angeles Area
- Conduct site inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
- Handle basic electrical and plumbing maintenance as needed
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and warranty work
System Performance & Troubleshooting
- Use Building Management Systems (BMS) to monitor performance and diagnose issues
- Provide remote troubleshooting support to onsite teams and vendors
- Review reports (startup, testing, balancing) to verify system performance
New Site Support
- Assist with new facility openings by verifying installation and system functionality
- Identify issues early and coordinate corrective actions
What your week looks like
- 70% hands-on HVAC/R maintenance & repair
- 20% troubleshooting & diagnostics (onsite + remote)
- 10% inspections, reporting, and system verification
What we’re looking for
Required
- 5+ years of commercial HVAC/R experience
- Experience working with rooftop units, ventilation systems, or refrigeration(Walk-Ins)
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites locally
Preferred
- HVAC Universal certification (EPA, trade school, or equivalent)
- Experience in restaurants, hospitality, or multi-site facilities
- Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems
Work Environment & Schedule
- Field-based role across the Greater Los Angeles Area
- Local travel between sites (home daily)
- Monday–Friday schedule with on-call rotation and overtime opportunities

About this role
Columbia Safety and Supply is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC/R Technician to maintain and troubleshoot systems across CloudKitchens' growing network of facilities in the Greater Los Angeles area. This role differs from typical service calls in that you'll work on modern, standardized commercial kitchen environments rather than chasing random jobs. You'll spend roughly 70% of your time on hands-on maintenance and repairs of rooftop units, walk-in refrigeration, ventilation systems, and related equipment, with the remainder split between diagnostics (using Building Management Systems), inspections, and supporting new facility openings.
The position requires at least five years of commercial HVAC/R experience, a valid driver's license, and strong troubleshooting skills. An EPA or universal certification is preferred but not required. You'll travel between multiple sites throughout the week and return home daily, working Monday through Friday with on-call rotation and overtime available. The hybrid arrangement and multi-site structure mean you'll have both independent problem-solving opportunities and access to a collaborative support network of engineers and senior technicians for complex issues.
