Description
Company Overview:
Beam Therapeutics is a biotechnology company committed to establishing the leading, fully integrated platform for precision genetic medicines. To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform with integrated gene editing, delivery and internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.

About this role
Beam Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Research Associate to lead flow cytometry operations across its precision genetic medicine platform. In this hands-on role, you would manage specimen preparation, staining, and data acquisition while operating advanced cell sorters including the BD FACS Melody, FACSAria Fusion, and BD FACS Symphony S6. You'll design and execute assay development initiatives, conduct quantitative data analysis using FlowJo or FCS Express, troubleshoot instrument performance, and coordinate core lab logistics—all in support of Beam's internal research programs and external collaborations.
The position requires a bachelor's degree with five years of relevant post-baccalaureate experience (or a master's with two years) in a life sciences field, paired with demonstrated expertise in high-parameter flow cytometry of hematopoietic and immune cell subsets, assay development for preclinical research, data analysis, and instrument troubleshooting. You should be comfortable training other researchers on flow cytometry platforms and maintaining detailed electronic records of experiments.
This is a full-time, in-office role based at Beam's Cambridge headquarters with no telecommuting option. The position requires you to live in Cambridge or within reasonable commuting distance of the Greater Boston area. The salary range is $95,000 to $115,000, determined by experience and qualifications.
