About this role

Syska Hennessy Group is hiring a Mechanical Engineer I to join their Washington DC office as an entry-level position within their Engineering Development Training program. You'll work on MEP design and engineering across a range of project types—from new installations to retrofits and upgrades—starting with basic CAD and BIM drafting under senior engineers' direction. The role involves learning company standards, coordinating across trades, supporting field investigations, and attending site meetings, with clear expectations that you'll take ownership of your work's accuracy and timeliness.

This position suits recent mechanical or architectural engineering graduates (graduating Winter 2026 or later) who are comfortable learning on the job and working both collaboratively and independently. You should have proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office, with REVIT and prior internship experience as advantages; an FE or EIT credential is preferred. The structured mentorship model is central to the role—senior engineers actively develop junior staff through both technical training and business education as part of Syska's established EDT program.

The work arrangement offers flexibility with in-office hours Monday through Thursday (9 hours) and remote Fridays (4 hours), plus a competitive benefits package including medical and dental coverage, 401(k) matching, professional development support, and transit stipends. The salary range is $68,788 to $98,182 depending on your background and experience.
