About this role
Syska Hennessy Group is seeking a recent mechanical engineering graduate to join their San Diego office as a Plumbing Engineer I, working in-office within their Engineering Development Training program. You'll support senior engineers on MEP design projects across a range of scales and types—from new installations to retrofits and upgrades—learning CAD and BIM drafting, coordinating with other trades, and attending site visits and project meetings. The role emphasizes hands-on growth through mentorship, with expectations that you'll take ownership of your work's accuracy and completeness while contributing fresh perspectives to a collaborative team.
This is a structured entry point for recent graduates (graduating Winter 2026 or later) who want to build technical expertise in plumbing systems design. You'll need proficiency in AutoCAD and the MS Office Suite, with REVIT and design software experience as advantages; an FE or EIT credential is preferred. The position offers the firm's signature mentorship model, pairing you with senior engineers to develop both technical and business acumen over time.
Compensation ranges from $55,877 to $97,733 annually, with benefits including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) match, professional development support, half-day work-from-home Fridays, and transit stipends. The role suits someone eager to learn in a structured program, comfortable with both collaborative work and independent problem-solving, and ready to invest in becoming a technical expert in MEP engineering.
