About this role
E Tech Group is looking for a Lead SCADA Applications Engineer to join its Mission Critical data center team and take ownership of designing, developing, and deploying Ignition-based automation solutions across industrial projects. You'd be the go-to expert on Ignition architecture, Perspective development, database integration, and MQTT—working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable systems while staying attuned to project budgets and timelines. The role blends hands-on technical work with leadership: you'll mentor junior engineers, conduct on-site commissioning in live environments, and help shape engineering efficiency through new tools and documentation practices.
This position suits someone with at least seven years in control systems and five-plus years specifically with Inductive Automation Ignition at the Gold certification level. You'll need strong development skills in Jython, SQL, and JavaScript, familiarity with PLC and HMI programming, and a methodical approach to working independently. Experience with data center controls, HVAC systems, or platforms like AVEVA Wonderware, FactoryTalk, or Rockwell PLCs would strengthen your candidacy, though it's not required.
The role is full-time and based in San Josef, British Columbia, though the listing notes an in-office arrangement. Compensation ranges from $120K to $150K, with immediate 401(k) matching (100% vested on entry), medical/dental/vision coverage, generous paid time off, and a commitment to ongoing training and career development.
