About this role
Network Building + Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design work across infrastructure projects in telecommunications, renewable energy, electric utility, and EV charging sectors. You'll own the technical quality and direction of electrical engineering deliverables—from power distribution designs and protection coordination studies to arc flash analysis and battery energy storage systems—while collaborating with senior engineering leads and multi-disciplinary teams. The role demands both depth in electrical standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE) and breadth across low and medium voltage systems, microgrid design, and utility coordination.
This is a contract position based in Richmond, Virginia, requiring in-office presence. You'll need a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, five or more years of relevant experience, and hands-on proficiency with design software such as ETAP, SKM, or PowerWorld. A PE or EIT is preferred. Beyond technical competency, the role expects you to mentor junior engineers, oversee quality and timelines, and solve complex problems independently while maintaining the firm's standards and templates. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to balance autonomy with effective collaboration across internal teams and client stakeholders.
