Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 by JB Straubel, co-founder and former CTO of Tesla, on a simple but radical idea: the critical minerals powering the energy transition already exist. They just need to come back. Today Redwood is the largest lithium-ion battery recycler in North America — recovering, refining, and redeploying critical minerals from end-of-life batteries back into the supply chain. On the energy side, Redwood has deployed the largest second-life battery project in the world, delivering power to AI data centers in months rather than years using proprietary energy architecture engineered entirely in-house. The company is profitable, the market it operates in is projected to grow 20 to 50 times over the next decade, and Redwood is the only company with the supply chain, the technology, and the operational scale to lead it.
We’re looking for a technically fluent and commercially strategic Global Supply Manager (GSM) to lead sourcing for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), custom transformers, and related electronics for a complex high-voltage energy product. You will own sourcing strategy, supplier negotiations, and delivery execution for key components that drive both early-stage ramp and sustained manufacturing success.
Responsibilities Will Include:
- Identify, qualify, and develop strategic suppliers for electronics, interconnects, and PCBA components.
- Lead RFQ/RFP efforts, negotiate commercial terms, and establish MSAs, SOWs, and pricing agreements.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure supplier readiness for NPI and mass production.
- Monitor supplier performance and manage escalations in quality, cost, or delivery.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure part readiness, VMI/buffer inventory, and cost optimization over lifecycle.
- Analyze BOM cost structure and propose sourcing strategies to reduce landed cost and mitigate risk.
- Support make-vs-buy, dual sourcing, and localization efforts across global supply chains.
- Contribute to CM sourcing decisions, lead-time analysis, and manufacturing footprint strategies.
Desired Qualifications:
- S. in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent technical background; MBA is a plus.
- 4–6 years of sourcing or GSM experience, ideally in EV, energy, or high-voltage electronics industries.
- Strong understanding of PCBA cost drivers, contract manufacturing dynamics, and commodity strategy.
- Experience negotiating commercial and technical terms with suppliers and CMs.
- Highly collaborative, data-driven, and proactive; capable of thriving in fast-paced startup environments.
- Willingness to travel internationally to supplier and CM sites as needed (10–25%).

About this role
Redwood Materials is building the supply chain infrastructure for the energy transition, and this role puts you at the center of sourcing strategy for a critical product line. As Global Supply Manager for Electronics & PCBA, you'll own the end-to-end sourcing function for printed circuit board assemblies, transformers, and related components that go into Redwood's high-voltage energy systems. This means identifying and qualifying suppliers, running RFQ/RFP processes, negotiating terms and master agreements, and ensuring suppliers can execute through new product introduction and into mass production. You'll also drive cost optimization across the bill of materials, evaluate make-versus-buy decisions, and support decisions around contract manufacturing partners and manufacturing footprint.
The role demands someone with 4–6 years of sourcing or supply chain management experience, preferably in EV, energy, or high-voltage electronics. You'll need a solid grasp of PCBA economics, contract manufacturing dynamics, and how to negotiate both commercial and technical terms with suppliers. An engineering or supply chain degree is expected; an MBA is valued. Beyond credentials, Redwood is looking for someone data-driven and collaborative who can move fast in a startup environment and is willing to travel internationally 10–25% of the time to visit supplier and manufacturing sites.
Based in San Francisco and working in-office full-time, you'd be joining a profitable company operating in a market projected to grow 20–50 times over the next decade. The salary range is $112,500–$147,500, depending on experience and background.
