Description
Company Overview
Tango Therapeutics is a biotechnology company dedicated to discovering novel drug targets and delivering the next generation of precision medicine for the treatment of cancer.
Using an approach that starts and ends with patients, Tango leverages the genetic principle of synthetic lethality to discover and develop therapies that take aim at critical targets in cancer.
This includes expanding the universe of precision oncology targets into novel areas such as tumor suppressor gene loss and their contribution to the ability of cancer cells to evade immune cell killing.
The Tango labs and offices are located at 201 Brookline Avenue, in the Fenway area of Boston, Massachusetts.

The ideal candidate brings an enterprise mindset and a proven track record of successfully launching oral oncology therapies. - Cross-Functional Synergy: Build seamless, highly collaborative partnerships across Medical Affairs, Market Access, Finance, and Corporate Communications to ensure unified product positioning and a cohesive narrative across all stakeholder touchpoints
- Commercial Architecture: Design and scale the foundational marketing and sales infrastructure from the ground up, transitioning the organization from clinical-stage to commercial readiness while maintaining a lean, high-performing culture
Marketing Strategy & Brand Leadership
- Brand & Disease State Positioning: Lead the development of compelling disease awareness campaigns, scientific narratives, and pre-launch brand positioning that clearly communicate the value of our precision oncology assets
- Omnichannel Strategy: Direct the creation of a robust, data-driven digital and non-personal engagement model tailored to the specific behaviors and preferences of medical oncologists and academic centers
- Market Insight & Competitive Intelligence: Drive comprehensive market research initiatives to anticipate shifts in the oral oncology landscape, deeply understand patient journeys, and continuously refine commercial strategy based on real-time data
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Field Force Architecture: Define the optimal field force sizing, territory alignment, and deployment strategy for a highly specialized oncology sales team
- Launch Readiness: Drive the operational and strategic readiness of the sales organization, ensuring rigorous training and certification of the field team on the complex science behind biomarker-driven treatments
- Customer Engagement: Cultivate and maintain executive-level relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), academic oncology networks, and major community oncology practices to drive scientific share of voice
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business discipline required; MBA or advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD) strongly preferred
- 20+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a mandatory blend of experience in large, established pharmaceutical organizations (best practices, scale, strategic rigor) and biotech environments (agility, foundational buildout, resource optimization)

About this role
Tango Therapeutics is building out its commercial leadership as it moves from clinical development into the market, and this role sits at the center of that transition. You would serve as Vice President of Marketing and Sales, reporting to the Chief Commercialization Officer and owning the complete commercial strategy for the company's precision oncology assets—beginning with oral PRMT5 inhibitors. This means designing the marketing infrastructure, field force architecture, and brand positioning from the ground up while ensuring tight alignment between commercial strategy and the company's broader clinical, regulatory, and corporate objectives.
The work spans both strategic and operational domains. You'll shape disease awareness campaigns and omnichannel engagement models for medical oncologists, drive market research to anticipate shifts in the oral oncology landscape, and build executive relationships with KOLs and academic centers. Simultaneously, you'll partner closely with Clinical Development and Regulatory Affairs on trial design and label strategy, coordinate across Medical Affairs and Market Access, and scale a lean, high-performing sales organization. Success requires the rigor and best practices of large pharma combined with the agility and resourcefulness of a biotech environment.
This role demands 20+ years of progressive commercial leadership in biopharmaceutical settings, with proven expertise in launching oral oncology and precision/biomarker-driven therapies. You'll need an enterprise mindset—the ability to think beyond commercial functions and understand drug development, regulatory pathways, and corporate finance. A bachelor's degree in a scientific or business discipline is required; an MBA or advanced degree (PharmD, PhD) is strongly preferred. The position is full-time and based in Boston.
