About this role

The Stonewall Project at San Francisco AIDS Foundation is seeking a licensed mental health clinician to manage behavioral health services for queer and trans communities navigating substance use concerns. This contract position combines clinical care delivery with program coordination and supervision—you'd oversee the full enrollment pipeline from intake through discharge, conduct DSM-V assessments and diagnoses, provide individual and group counseling, and supervise one to three counselors while offering clinical consultation to staff and interns. You'll also serve as the team's electronic health record specialist, managing Welligent and Epic systems, running reports, and supporting staff training.

The role requires a master's degree in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy plus current California licensure (LPCC, LMFT, or LCSW). You'll need at least two years of counseling experience, ideally with SFAF's priority communities, and familiarity with harm reduction approaches that honor participant autonomy around substance use goals. Prior experience in low-threshold walk-in or community mental health settings is strongly preferred. Knowledge of CBHS and Epic systems is valued; experience with Welligent is a bonus.

Based in San Francisco at either the Howard Street or Castro Street location, the position includes occasional evening hours and may require travel to other sites. The salary range is $95,000–$110,000 with comprehensive benefits including 27+ days of combined PTO and sick time initially, and a 403(b) retirement plan with 1-to-1 matching up to 3%.
