Description

Awetomaton is seeking a Junior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to support customers at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In this role you will interface with end-users to understand and refine requirements for applications supporting mission needs. You will be applying expertise in JavaScript and modern web frameworks to enable rapid search, discovery, visualization, and retrieval of data.

An active TS/SCI is preferred; however, the ability to obtain is required with sponsorship available. The ideal candidate will possess a BS degree or higher in engineering or related field with 1-3 years of experience. This position will largely be performed at Awetomaton Beavercreek HQ, with occasional trips to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for meetings and software deliveries once able to. We are considering candidates through September with a planned October 2026 start date.

Criteria for success

  • U.S. Citizenship 
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with peers & decision makers
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively both within a team and independently
  • Demonstrate initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements
  • Experience in modern web application technologies including TypeScript, React, NodeJS, etc.
  • Experience in building and integrating RESTful APIs and server-side logic using Python

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline
  • 0 to 3 years of minimum experience in a software focused engineering career (Software Engineer, Computer Science, etc.)
  • 0 to 3 years of experience developing web applications with React
  • 0 to 3 years of minimum experience in JavaScript / TypeScript, CSS/SASS/LESS, HTML
  • 0 to 3 years of experience developing applications with Python
  • 0 to 3 years experience with software configuration management using Git

Desired Education and Experience

  • Experience with Python frameworks like FastAPI or similar
  • Experience with web mapping technologies such as Cesium
  • Experience with Postgresql or similar database technologies
  • Experience with database design, querying, and integration (e.g., ORM tools like SQLAlchemy)
  • Expertise with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.)
