About this role
CaptiveAire is seeking a Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join its Missoula operation, serving the local region and surrounding areas. You'll work on the company's own commercial kitchen ventilation and HVAC systems—commissioning new equipment, diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical issues, and maintaining systems for facility managers and property owners. The role demands hands-on technical work: reading schematics, testing airflows, troubleshooting electrical and refrigeration components, and performing preventive maintenance. You'll also communicate directly with customers about system status and repair recommendations, so clear communication matters as much as technical skill.
The position requires a minimum of two years' hands-on commercial HVAC experience, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and strong knowledge of electrical systems and refrigeration cycles. EPA Universal Certification and OSHA 10 are suggested. You'll need to be comfortable working at heights, in tight spaces, and in varied weather, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently. The role is safety-sensitive with strict EPA compliance requirements. New hires attend a one-week training course at the company's R&D facility in Pennsylvania, which requires travel.
The salary starts at $75,000 annually with increases based on experience, plus monthly productivity bonuses and overtime potential. You'll receive a $4,000 signing bonus, a company vehicle with gas card, tools, technical equipment, and a uniform. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with employer match; nine paid holidays; and PTO. CaptiveAire emphasizes employee development through ongoing technical training and prioritizes safety across all operations.
