About this role
Cahill Contractors, a family- and woman-owned general contractor with over a century of history in the Bay Area, is looking for an intern to work directly on active jobsites across their multi-family residential, education, and commercial projects. You'll spend your summer embedded with Superintendents and Project Management staff, gaining hands-on experience in real construction management—working through actual challenges on site, managing subcontractor relationships, handling RFIs and submittals, and learning industry-standard tools like Bluebeam, Procore, and BIM. This is not a desk-bound role; you'll be "boots on the ground," and your contributions will matter from day one.
The internship includes structured onboarding to get you up to speed on Cahill's processes and culture, ongoing training throughout the summer (including a practice problem modeled after ASC competitions), and regular skill-building sessions. You'll also have genuine opportunities to connect with other interns and employees through jobsite tours, company events, and access to employee committees. The role is hybrid based in the San Francisco Bay Area and pays $27.50 per hour.
You should be enrolled in or pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, though it's not required. What matters more is that you're detail-oriented, comfortable with Excel, have solid analytical skills, and are genuinely curious and coachable. You'll need to be comfortable working on active jobsites and willing to follow safety protocols rigorously—safety is a core value at Cahill and non-negotiable on the job.
