Position Overview

The Senior Associate will be part of the StepStone Portfolio Analytics & Reporting (SPAR) team, supporting the delivery of portfolio analytics, reporting and data management services for the Firm's private debt and multi-asset client portfolios. The role requires strong technical expertise in private markets data, performance reporting, portfolio analysis and data quality management. The successful candidate will work closely with Investment, Fund Accounting, Research, Investor Relations and other internal teams to deliver accurate, insightful and timely reporting while contributing to the continued enhancement of reporting processes, analytics and data infrastructure.

 Responsibilities:

  • Produce, review and deliver private debt portfolio reporting and analytics for institutional clients and internal stakeholders
  • Own the day-to-day execution of the reporting cycle for assigned client portfolios, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely delivery
  • Analyze portfolio performance, exposures, cash flows, and other key private markets metrics.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across multiple internal and external data sources.
  • Continuously monitor and improve data quality across assigned client portfolios and reporting outputs.
  • Support the development and enhancement of portfolio analytics, reporting methodologies and reporting frameworks.
  • Partner with Investment, Research, Fund Accounting and Investor Relations teams to ensure accurate interpretation and presentation of portfolio information.
  • Support reporting automation initiatives and process improvement projects, including the use of reporting and visualization tools.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of StepStone's private markets data universe.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Analysts and Associates and support their professional development.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing reporting capabilities, scalability and operational efficiency.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within Private Markets, Asset Management or Investment Reporting.
  • Strong understanding of private debt and private markets investment structures, cash flows, portfolio monitoring and performance reporting.
  • Experience working with large financial datasets and performing complex data analysis and reconciliations.
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles and portfolio reporting frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite; experience with reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with portfolio management, reporting or performance measurement systems is preferred.
  • CFA, CAIA or other relevant professional designation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English is required; proficiency in German is a plus.
