Description
Consulting Director- New York
Role Summary
The Consulting Director operates as the ultimate Solution Owner and Engagement Lead for a portfolio of data and AI projects. Positioned between our commercial teams (Account Executives/Client Partners) and technical delivery teams, you will take high-level customer opportunities and shape them into concrete, executable project plans.
This role is ideal for a strong program leader who thrives in the data/AI space—acting as "the most technical person of the non-technical team, and the least technical person of the technical team." You will supervise the Delivery Managers running day-to-day operations, ensuring that the initial strategic vision is successfully executed to drive client value and secure recurring revenue.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solutioning & Scoping (Pre-Sales Adjacent)
-
Translate Opportunity to Execution: Partner with Client Partners and Technologists to take defined technical solutions and build concrete project plans, proposals, and execution roadmaps.
-
Bridge the Strategy Gap: Successfully translate high-level business objectives into structured, multi-workstream data engineering and AI initiatives.
2. Delivery Supervision & Program Governance
-
Team Supervision: Directly manage and mentor a team of Delivery Managers who handle day-to-day project management and client communication.
-
Full SDLC Oversight: Oversee multiple complex workstreams across the data lifecycle (e.g., data warehouse migrations, platform modernizations, agentic AI/LLM implementations).
-
Escalation & Health: Serve as the ultimate escalation point for delivery hurdles, managing overall engagement health, risk mitigation, and executive client satisfaction.
3. Financial & Revenue Accountability
-
Revenue Realization: Own the health of project delivery to directly hit portfolio revenue targets (realized revenue based on successful delivery milestones).
Candidate Profile
Experience & Expertise
-
Tenure: 8–10+ years of experience in technical program management, professional services, or IT consulting delivery leadership.
-
Technical Breadth: Strong foundational knowledge of data pipelines, modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake), and emerging AI landscapes (LLMs, multi-flow agents). Hands-on coding is not required, but technical fluency is mandatory.
-
Methodology: Proven track record managing large-scale, full software development life cycle (SDLC) programs.
-
Industry Focus: Financial Services experience is highly preferred, though top-tier enterprise program experience in other fast-paced sectors will be considered.
Leadership Traits
-
The "Translator": Ability to confidently discuss project execution metrics with delivery teams and high-level strategy with client executives.
-
High Ownership: Comfortable navigating ambiguous project states and turning chaos into structured execution plans.
-
Team Scaler: Passionate about growing and structuring internal delivery capabilities as Indicium expands.

About this role
Indicium AI is seeking a Consulting Director to lead its data and AI delivery portfolio from New York, operating as the bridge between commercial teams and technical delivery. You'll own the full lifecycle of complex projects—from translating client business objectives into executable data engineering and AI initiatives, through supervising Delivery Managers who handle day-to-day execution, to ensuring successful delivery against revenue targets. This is fundamentally a program leadership role where you shape ambiguous opportunities into structured, multi-workstream initiatives spanning data warehouse migrations, platform modernizations, and emerging AI implementations.
The ideal candidate brings 8–10+ years of technical program management or professional services delivery experience, with strong foundational knowledge of modern data platforms like Databricks and Snowflake, plus fluency in the AI/LLM landscape. You don't need to code, but you must think technically and communicate fluently across both technical teams and executive clients—the role explicitly values the ability to be "the most technical person of the non-technical team, and the least technical person of the technical team." Financial Services background is preferred, though proven enterprise program leadership in other fast-paced sectors is considered.
This full-time, in-office position offers a base salary of $195,000–$250,000 plus potential annual discretionary bonus, with compensation determined by location, experience, and specialized skills. Success here requires high ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and a genuine interest in scaling Indicium's internal delivery capabilities as the company grows.
