TEAM AND ROLE
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Contract Specialist to join our Trade Operations team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing commodity trading contracts throughout their lifecycle. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure contracts accurately reflect commercial arrangements while mitigating contractual risk.
Beyond contract execution, you will play an important role in supporting the ongoing development of the Contracts function. You will help drive process improvements, identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and controls, contribute to strategic initiatives, and support the team in adopting best practices and scalable ways of working.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Draft, review, negotiate and manage a range of trade contracts and related documentation, including non-disclosure agreements and master agreements.
- Manage the full contract lifecycle, from drafting through to execution.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external counterparties, acting as a trusted point of contact.
- Contribute to the maintenance of contract playbooks, templates, procedures and knowledge resources.
- Identify and support opportunities to improve contract processes, controls, automation and ways of working.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Law.
- 2-5 years of experience in contract management, contract negotiation, legal operations or commodity trading operations, preferably within a trading, energy, commodities or financial services environment.
- Fluent in English and currently living in the Netherlands. Additional languages are considered an advantage.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation skills and analytical skills.
