About the Team
Lucid’s Field Quality Engineering team turns real-world customer and fleet feedback into measurable improvements across current and future electric vehicles. The Powertrain team partners closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Reliability, Service, Diagnostics, Warranty, and Field Operations to identify emerging issues, validate root causes, and drive durable corrective actions. What makes this team unique is its direct connection between customer experience, vehicle data, engineering decisions, and production execution, giving engineers visibility from field concern through validated resolution.
About the Role
As a Senior Field Quality Engineer, Powertrain, you will serve as the technical owner for customer-facing quality issues involving electric drive units, motors, inverters, transmissions, high-voltage power delivery, and supporting thermal systems. This role reports to a Field Quality Engineering leader and exists to strengthen Lucid’s ability to detect, investigate, and permanently resolve powertrain concerns as the vehicle fleet grows. In your first 12 months, you will own complex investigations from field signal through validated corrective action, using warranty claims, diagnostic trouble codes, vehicle logs, telematics, returned components, vehicle inspections, engineering analysis, and supplier evaluations to identify root cause. Success will be measured by earlier detection of emerging issues, shorter investigation cycle times, fewer repeat failures, and evidence that corrective actions are protecting the customer fleet. This role offers direct ownership of real-world EV powertrain performance and the opportunity to convert customer feedback into design, manufacturing, service, and supplier improvements across Lucid’s vehicles.
What You Own
- Field Investigations: Lead end-to-end investigations of customer-facing powertrain concerns and determine the technical path from initial signal through documented root cause.
- Root Cause Decisions: Use diagnostics, vehicle data, component analysis, testing, and engineering evidence to separate root causes from symptoms and make clear recommendations for corrective action.
- Corrective Actions: Drive permanent solutions across design, embedded controls, calibration, manufacturing processes, supplier controls, service diagnostics, and repair procedures, ensuring containment is followed by validated prevention.
- Fleet Monitoring: Analyze warranty claims, diagnostic trouble codes, service repairs, telematics, vehicle logs, parts returns, and customer feedback to identify emerging failure modes and prioritize technical response.
- Risk Prioritization: Quantify issue frequency, severity, affected population, reliability exposure, customer impact, and warranty cost to support risk-based escalation and resolution decisions.
- Validation Planning: Define objective validation plans, acceptance criteria, sample sizes, and effectiveness measures to confirm corrective actions prevent recurrence in the field.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality, Reliability, Service, Diagnostic Engineering, Warranty Engineering, and Field Operations to maintain clear ownership and timely closure of powertrain issues.
What You Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience resolving customer-facing EV powertrain issues involving electric drive units, traction motors, inverters, gearboxes, high-voltage interfaces, or supporting cooling and lubrication systems.
- Experience leading structured root cause investigations and driving corrective actions from issue identification through validated closure.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with premium battery-electric vehicles, high-performance EV powertrain systems, or high-voltage safety practices.
- Experience using diagnostic trouble codes, vehicle logs, CAN data, telematics, data logging tools, test results, and service repair information to support technical investigations.
