Description
About FIRY
We build companies that help people create, compete, and grow.
FIRY (NYSE: FIRY) is a founder-led global holding company built to fuel business potential. Founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Andrew Paradise, FIRY began by inventing an entirely new category: real-money skill-based mobile gaming. What started as a single bold idea became Skillz, a platform with more than 90 million registered users and one of the largest sources of first-party behavioral data in gaming.
Today, FIRY is building something much bigger.
We’re creating a portfolio of category-defining businesses operating at the intersection of AI, identity, gaming, commerce, and performance marketing. Each business is successful on its own. Together, they create a flywheel of technology, data, and distribution that’s difficult to replicate.
- Skillz: The competition platform that pioneered real-money skill-based gaming and continues to power millions of competitive experiences while generating unique behavioral insights.
- RZR: Our AI-native performance advertising platform, rebuilt from first principles and profitable for three consecutive quarters, helping brands acquire customers more intelligently.
- Beamable: The infrastructure powering the next generation of live games, giving developers everything they need to build, operate, and scale online experiences.
FIRY is publicly traded on the NYSE and headquartered in Las Vegas, with hubs in San Francisco, New York City, and Bengaluru.
We’re still early.
We’re looking for builders who want to create products that define industries—not simply compete in them.
FIRY Communications Co-Op Rotational Program
- Six-month, in-person program at FIRY headquarters in Las Vegas | Potential full-time conversion to work out of the New York City office if desired (relocation support provided)
- Eligibility: You must be an enrolled graduate or undergraduate student at the start of the program and graduate no more than 1 year after the program begins
- Strong performers may be considered for a full-time opportunity at the end of the program
About the Role
This is a hands-on, 360-degree product marketing and communications co-op reporting to the Head of Communications. You will help shape how Skillz introduces new games and features to players, ensuring each launch tells one clear, compelling story across every touchpoint—including in-app messaging, app store listings, user acquisition creative, email, push notifications, social media, Skillz News, help content, and the website.
You will own the launch messaging and copy workstream while partnering closely with Product, Marketing, CRM, User Acquisition, and Customer Support. Although channel strategy, audience segmentation, and media buying remain with those teams, you will serve as the connective tissue across them—developing the core positioning, translating it into channel-ready copy, and ensuring every player-facing surface reflects a consistent voice.
The program begins with six months of intensive, in-person development at FIRY's Las Vegas headquarters. At month five, your performance will be reviewed against transparent conversion criteria. Successful co-ops may be offered a full-time role in FIRY's New York office, where the position is expected to grow with the company and deepen its connection to the media, agency, financial, and creative communities.
Responsibilities:
- Support the messaging and copy workstream for feature and game launches from product planning through post-launch review, including drafting briefs that define the audience, core claim, proof points, and messaging boundaries.
- Build comprehensive launch packages across in-app messaging, app stores, user acquisition creative, lifecycle channels, social media, Skillz News, help content, and the website.
- Maintain the launch coverage matrix and conduct readiness checks with Product, User Acquisition, CRM, and Customer Support to ensure every player-facing surface is prepared before release.
- Produce multiple testable copy variations for paid user acquisition campaigns and lifecycle communications across email, push notifications, and in-app messaging.
- Create organic and paid social content, Skillz News stories, and player-facing copy for app store listings, onboarding, tournaments, system messages, help content, and the website.
- Maintain the product voice and style guide, use AI tools to increase production speed and variation without compromising quality, and apply channel-performance insights to future launches.
Key Competencies
- Product marketing instinct: Finds the claim that matters in a feature spec and can defend why it beats the other three.
- Launch orchestration: Tracks a dozen surfaces across four teams against a release date and notices the one nobody covered.
- Conversion writing: Writes short-form copy that moves a metric, and can articulate why a line works.
- Volume with quality: Produces at the rate paid and lifecycle channels require without the tenth variant reading worse than the first.
- Voice range: Moves between an ad, an app store listing, a push notification, and a news post while keeping one recognizable product voice.
- Coachability: Takes edit without defensiveness and applies the correction to the next draft. This is the strongest predictor of conversion.
Experience
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Political Science, Marketing, or a closely related discipline with expected graduation in May 2027 or December 2027.
- Prior internship, campus agency, student media, or comparable copywriting experience.
- A portfolio of short-form copy. Ad concepts, social campaigns, email, or spec work all qualify. A campaign carried across multiple channels is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to write multiple distinct executions against a single brief.
- Working familiarity with A/B testing, click-through rate, and creative fatigue.
- Interest in or experience with mobile gaming, competitive gaming, or consumer apps preferred.
- Familiarity with AI writing tooling preferred, particularly for variant generation.
- Willingness to relocate to Las Vegas for the co-op term and, if converted, stay in Las Vegas or relocate to New York for the full-time role.
Total Starting Compensation: 31/hr (Masters)
Location: Onsite in Las Vegas, NV for 6 months then convert to Hybrid in the NY office.
Travel Requirement: Less than 10%
