About this role

Hazel Valley Homes is seeking a Senior Maintenance Manager to build and oversee a national maintenance operation across its growing single-family rental portfolio. You'll design the strategic framework for a hybrid model that combines in-house technician teams with third-party vendor networks, ensuring consistent quality and efficiency as the company expands beyond its St. Louis base. This role demands someone who can architect scalable processes, manage vendor performance through RFPs and scorecards, and translate maintenance operations into a competitive advantage for resident satisfaction and asset preservation.

The position sits at the intersection of operations, finance, and compliance. You'll develop SOPs and KPIs, manage capital project budgets, champion maintenance technology platforms to drive data-driven decisions, and ensure all activities meet OSHA and local regulatory standards. Cross-functional collaboration is essential—you'll work closely with property management, construction, and procurement teams to align maintenance strategy with broader business goals and contribute to executive-level planning discussions.

This role suits someone with 10+ years of progressive maintenance leadership, including at least 5 years in single-family rentals, who has successfully built and managed hybrid in-house and vendor models. You'll need strong command of maintenance tech platforms, residential systems knowledge, and the financial acumen to balance cost control with service quality. The position is remote with hybrid flexibility, offering generous PTO, parental leave, 401(k) matching, and a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
