South Windsor Veterinary Clinic is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Assistant to our team.  At our Rarebreed clinic, you can help reimagine the veterinary experience in your community. South Windsor Veterinary Clinic is a small animal general practice located in Manchester, CT. The practice itself has been well established for over 20 years in the community, and we pride ourselves on a small town-homey feel that is extremely family oriented not only for our clients but our staff as well. Our typical day consists of seeing a mix of both sick and wellness appointments, as well as surgery days for dentals and routine surgeries. Veterinary Assistant 

South Windsor Veterinary Clinic in Manchester, CT

WHAT YOU’LL DO  

  • Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones 
  • Perform restraint for blood draws, X-rays and physical exams
  • Perform restraint on both feline and canine patients
  • Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy 
  • Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas 
  • Perform physical assessments and record your observations 
  • Prepare estimates for procedures and discusses financial commitments with clients 
  • Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions 
  • Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered  
  • Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery

IDEXX ProCyte, Catalyst DX, and Sedivue  • Ultrasound (including a traveling ultrasonographer for echocardiograms and abdominal ultrasounds) • Digital radiography and dental radiography

REQUIREMENTS  

  • Must be a team player and have compassion for pets and their people  
  • Ability to multi-task  
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds  
  • Must be willing to work evenings  
  • High school diploma or equivalent
