VetCare Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.
This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile Veterinary Assistant who enjoys variety and wants to continue building a well-rounded skill set across patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures. Our diverse caseload includes dogs, cats, reptiles, avian patients, and other pocket pets, providing the opportunity to gain valuable experience caring for a wide range of species.
We are looking for a dependable, motivated team member who thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages multiple priorities with confidence, anticipates the needs of the team, and communicates professionally. The ideal candidate takes pride in providing exceptional support and compassionate care throughout every stage of the patient experience.
In this position, you will take an active role in:
- Supporting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
- Providing safe, gentle patient handling and low-stress restraint during outpatient and procedural care
- Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
- Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
- Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
- Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
Schedule and compensation:
- Compensation: $20 - $24 per hour, for each hour worked
- This is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Thursday. Weekend availability is occasionally needed to support coverage, though weekend shifts are infrequent.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
- 3+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant required
- Proficiency in the following skills:
- Client communication and education
- Safe animal handling and low-stress restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
- Ability to assist in surgical procedures
- Ability to assist with exams, treatments, blood draws, and outpatient procedures
- Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs
- Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Radiology and positioning
- Experience with pocket pets, reptiles, and avian preferred but not required
