About this role

Electric Hydrogen is building electrolytic hydrogen systems, and this role sits at the center of that effort—designing and optimizing the fluid systems that make those plants work. As a Fluid Systems Engineer on the Product Engineering team, you'll translate customer and plant requirements into hardware specifications, create P&IDs and process flow diagrams, and run engineering calculations and simulations to solve real problems around cost, reliability, and performance. The work spans the full product lifecycle, from early concept through production, and you'll collaborate across instrumentation, controls, electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to integrate your designs into working systems.

The role suits engineers with 2–5+ years of experience in industrial process equipment or complex engineered products, ideally with hands-on knowledge of piping, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, and process simulation tools like Aspen. You'll need a solid foundation in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and process safety methods like HAZOP and LOPA. Prior experience in hydrogen, energy storage, chemicals, biopharmaceuticals, semiconductors, or similar industries is valued but not required; what matters is demonstrated problem-solving ability and the capacity to own engineering activities from requirements through delivery.

This is a full-time, in-office position in San Jose with a salary range of $105,000–$150,500 plus equity, healthcare, 401(k) match, and other standard benefits. Expect occasional travel—up to 10%—to suppliers, manufacturing sites, and customer locations.
