About this role

Equal Experts is looking for a Data Scientist to join their South Africa office on a full-time, in-office basis. You'll work within agile teams delivering machine learning solutions for enterprise and public sector clients, moving beyond analysis to build models that automate decision-making and drive measurable business value. The role requires you to uncover insights from large datasets, develop quantitative models using modern ML frameworks, and guide clients on how to act on your findings—then help them scale adoption across their organizations.

This position demands solid technical foundations: proficiency in Python, SQL, and source control tools like Git, plus hands-on experience building machine learning products with frameworks such as Scikit-Learn or TensorFlow. You'll need strong analytical thinking that blends statistical rigor with business acumen, and the ability to work effectively across data engineering, business intelligence, and client teams. Communication matters as much as technical skill—you'll explain data requirements, participate in ML Ops discussions, and collaborate with globally distributed colleagues.

The role suits someone who enjoys both the technical depth of model development and the practical challenge of embedding solutions into client operations. If you're comfortable working in fast-feedback agile environments and want to influence how organizations use data to make better decisions, this could be a strong fit.
